CASL Compliance

Last updated: April 2026

3D3D is committed to complying with Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL), which came into force on July 1, 2014. CASL establishes rules for sending commercial electronic messages (CEMs), installing software, and using false or misleading representations online.

This page explains how we comply with CASL and your rights regarding electronic messages from 3D3D.

1. What is CASL?

CASL (SC 2010, c 23) is Canadian federal legislation that regulates the sending of commercial electronic messages. It requires organizations to obtain consent before sending commercial emails, to identify themselves in every message, and to provide a functioning unsubscribe mechanism. CASL is administered by the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC), the Competition Bureau, and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

2. Consent

Express Consent

We obtain express consent before sending you any commercial electronic messages, including our newsletter. Express consent means you have taken a clear, affirmative action, such as checking a consent checkbox on our website, to agree to receive messages from us.

When requesting express consent, we clearly state:

  • Who is requesting consent (3D3D, operated by Kenneth Murray McKnight)
  • Why we are requesting consent (to send you our newsletter, service updates, or relevant announcements)
  • How to withdraw consent (unsubscribe link in every email, or email info@3d3d.ca)

Implied Consent

We may rely on implied consent in the following situations, as permitted by CASL:

  • Existing business relationship: if you have purchased a service or requested a quote from us within the past 2 years
  • Existing inquiry: if you have inquired about our services within the past 6 months
  • Conspicuous publication: if your email address is publicly available and the message is relevant to your professional role

Implied consent expires per the timelines above. We will seek express consent before implied consent expires.

3. Message Identification

Every commercial electronic message we send includes:

  • Our name: 3D3D
  • Our mailing address: Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada
  • A way to contact us: info@3d3d.ca
  • A clear, functioning unsubscribe mechanism

4. Unsubscribe Mechanism

Every commercial email we send contains an unsubscribe link. You can also unsubscribe by emailing info@3d3d.cawith the subject line "Unsubscribe." We will process your request within 10 business days, as required by CASL. Unsubscribing is always free of charge.

Our unsubscribe mechanism remains functional for a minimum of 60 days after a message is sent, as required by CASL.

5. What We Send

With your consent, we may send the following types of messages:

  • Newsletter: updates about 3D3D services, projects, materials, and capabilities
  • Service communications: quote responses, order updates, project status, and delivery notifications
  • Announcements: new service offerings, events (such as Newport-Bermuda 2026), and important business updates

Transactional messages (order confirmations, quote responses, direct replies to your inquiries) are not subject to CASL consent requirements, but we include our identification and contact information in those messages as well.

6. Record Keeping

We maintain records of all consent obtained, including the date and method of consent, the purpose for which consent was given, and the content of the consent request. These records are retained for a minimum of 3 years after the last commercial message was sent, as recommended by the CRTC.

7. Website Forms and Consent

Our website includes contact, managed-care, quote-cart, and newsletter forms powered by Formspree. When you submit a form:

  • You must enter your email address
  • You must check a consent checkbox confirming you agree to receive emails from 3D3D
  • The checkbox is not pre-checked. You must actively opt in
  • Your submission is recorded with consent purpose, form source, and timestamp as proof of consent
  • Service replies are email-only. No phone sales calls or chat widgets are used

8. Third-Party Software

CASL also regulates the installation of computer programs. 3D3D does not install any software on your devices. Our website uses only essential cookies as described in our Privacy Policy.

9. Complaints
